January Favourites

Hey Guys

So I thought I'd start a new series of posts that will appear at the end of every month which will document my favourite things from that month. There will be different categories every month depending on what I have been doing, hope you enjoy.

FILM:

I only saw one film this month in cinema and that was The 5th Wave and I loved it. This film is a book to movie adaptation it's about a girl named Cassie Sullivan and her quest to find her brother after an alien invasion comes to Earth and he is taken by the army, this movie has twists, action and romance. I read the book at the beginning of the year and enjoyed it, personally I think book to movie adaptations are either really good or really bad and I can honestly say this was really good. I felt it included everything that was useful and what they did leave out was not important to the story and they changed a few things in it which I felt where for the better especially the Ben and Cassie relationship. Really good I advise you to watch this film if you love action sci-fi films.

TV:

I'm not a huge TV person I find it hard to keep up with what's on telly but I have managed to do that with one show this month and that is War and Peace that has been showing on BBC 1 this is adapted from the book written by Leo Tolstoy. I admit one of the main reasons I started watching this was because it had Lily James in it and she is one of my favourite people ever since I watched her in Cinderella. I have enjoyed watching War and Peace however I found the first 2 episodes a bit boring but from then it has go so much better. I loved the dancing scene between Natasha and Andrei was just completely magical watching how they fell in love. I am up to date and the latest episode made me so angry and heart broken because I couldn't see it happening and I had so much faith in Natasha. I cannot wait to see where this is going to go in the last 2 episodes.

BOOKS:

I don't really have a single book favourite this month because I have been re reading the Harry Potter series, as I currently write this I am reading the 5th book Order of the Phoenix and it's mammoth task of 800 pages. I am re reading this series because it's been so long since I have read it and I hear people always have a favourite in the series and I still do not know which one is my favourite yet because I have loved them all so far. I forgot all the extra little details in the books that I wish had made it into the films but alas was not to be. So instead of a favourite book it's a favourite series.

MUSIC:

I have two music favourites this month both are songs that have been popular this month in the charts which I am normally awful at keeping up with. First one is Justin Bieber, Sorry, I don't know how but Justin Bieber has just released some amazing music lately and this is my favourite of all the ones he has released so far. The other song is You Don't Own Me by Grace, I loved this song the moment I saw it on the House Of Fraser Christmas advert but had no idea who it was or what the song was called or anything but now I do know all that and this song has been played non stop this month.

SPORT:

There have been so many things going on this month sport wise, there's been so many football matches with it being January, England cricket team winning in South Africa, Johanna Konta's amazing run in the Australian Open and rugby in both the premiership and Champions Cup as well as Eddie Jones naming his first England squad ready for the 6 nations. I think my favourite sporting moment this month was the 3-3 game between Arsenal and Liverpool, this was one of the best games I have seen the play in this game was so good and the quality of goals was exceptional and the way Liverpool equalised in added time and from the most unlikely source of Joe Allen.

RANDOM:

So I do have a random favourite and that is my Philips Sonicare Diamond Clean toothbrush that I got bought for Christmas this has changed my life and made me more aware of how I am brushing my teeth, after using this for about a month now my teeth have never looked as clean and white before. It has different settings you can use and they each have their own individual length of brush time. It comes with a travel case which also charges it through USB and a glass cup which you put on a charging plate which also charges it. It is quite a pricey toothbrush at about £250 which I think is too much for a toothbrush but I got bought it in the Black Friday sale as it was about £90 which is still a lot for a toothbrush but much more justifiable than the £250. However I think it's a brilliant toothbrush and if you are willing to spend that much then go for it because this is the only set of teeth you've got, might as well look after them.

Hope you all enjoyed this, until next time

Loves and Hugs

Stacey xx

Review- Everybody’s Talking About Jamie Tour

This weekend I went and watched the tour cast of Everybody’s Talking About Jamie at the Wolverhampton Grand Theatre. I’ve not seen this show before but it has been on my list for a long time. I’d only heard one or two songs before so I was going in with no ideas of what it was like and I found it very enjoyable. Background This is based on the true story of 16 year old Jamie New who dreams of being a drag queen as well as wearing a dress to his prom. Throughout the show we see Jamie go through a journey of self discovery which has so many highs and lows. Along the way we meet people who are and aren’t supportive of his dream and how much prejudice he has to contend with. The show first opened on the West End in 2017 and is currently on its second UK tour. Cast The cast of this show were fabulous, unfortunately didn't get to see Ivano Turco play Jamie, Finton Flynn was incredible in those red heels. He portrayed the emotion of playing Jamie perfectly as well showing the young silly ...

Carrie Hope Fletcher Book Signing

Hey Guys On Monday 12th September I attended Carrie Hope Fletcher's book signing for her fiction book On The Other Side at the Glee Club in Birmingham. This is the second time I have met Carrie and once again she was an absolute pleasure to listen too. I attended this event on my own, and I must stay that I think the Glee Club and the Waterstones team planned and hosted the event so well considering there was 350 people that turned up to this event and each one of those people had bought a ticket and a book. We were seated quite early as doors opened at 6 and I was in a seat by 6:30 with the event starting at 7, however there were people who turned up 10 minutes before the event and had to stand up because of all the seats that were taken which gives you an idea of how many people attended this event. Before the signing of the actual books, there was a 40 minute question and answer session with a representative from Waterstones asking Carrie questions about her book, being...

Review: Beauty and the Beast Musical

In March, me and two of my friends went to see Disney’s Beauty and the Beast at the Birmingham Hippodrome. Beauty and the Beast is one of my favourite Disney films and I was excited to see what this interpretation had in stall. The fairy-tale was first adapted into the much-loved Disney animated film in 1991 and became a Broadway production in 1993. The show opens with the familiar voice of Angela Lansbury and the enchanting music that we all recognise and with the help of the beautiful rose projection we are transported into the magic. Director Matt West leaves the story exactly how it is, only adding extra bits of comedy here and there which the audience engage with easily. The cast all suit their characters and portray them to perfection. Grace Swaby- Moore, understudy to Courtney Stapleton, was the embodiment of Belle, she captured the innocence of the character and belted the songs to perfection. Shaq Taylor portrayed the Beast will emotion and ferocity when needed. His voice ...
