February Favourites

Hey Guys

Time for a monthly favourites as it is the end of February already, I have no idea where the month has gone to be honest. Hope everyone has had a good February.

TV:

I haven't watched a lot of telly this month but one thing I did sit and watch was Grease:Live which was on ITV 2 and I loved it. I am a huge fan of musicals and all that jazz and have always been a lover of Grease. I loved the way they did it and how well it worked live, I was fine with the extra songs they added and the fact that they moved Hopelessly Devoted to You which I thought worked much better than where it is originally in the film. I loved the casting with musical theatre star Aaron Tviet playing Danny, he was Enjorlas in the Les Mis Film, Julianne Hough as Sandy didn't know she could sing as well as she can dance which is amazing and Vanessa Hudgens as Rizzo killed it and especially during what must have been a very difficult time for her. Two things I weren't keen on were the appearances by Boy to men and Joe Jonas I don't think they were very good but this was outweighed by everything else which was just amazing.

FOOD:

I discovered a new place to eat this month and that is Ed's Diner, me and my boyfriend went to the little one in Grand Central in Birmingham for Valentines Day and the food there was amazing, Ed's is an American restaurant it looks like the old American diners on the inside and each table has it's only little jukebox which you can put 20p into and can play the selected songs for example there is a lot of Elvis Presley songs on there. I ordered 'The Original' chicken burger as a plate so I got the main, Fries, onion rings and coleslaw for a one price, however I did have sweet potato fries which cost £1 odd more as well as a glass of diet coke and I thoroughly enjoyed the food and would recommend it to anyone, it is also reasonably priced food bit more expensive than pub food though.

BOOKS:

I finally finished the Harry Potter series this month, however I do think it might have put me in reading slump but that can rectified easily. I think the 6th book, Half Blood Prince, might be my favourite I found it the easiest one to read and flew through it in a couple of days it is such a pivotal book and sets up the 7th one so well and we learn such a lot in this book and such a lot happens that is quite significant. I also thought it was the most entertaining I found myself laughing at some on the one liners there are hilarious. This book is definitely better than the film which I find quite boring in some places.

SPORT:

The best sporting event that has happened this month is the return of the 6 nations and England fans first chance to see the new era of Eddie Jones and his styles put into practise. It's so far so good for Jones' men who are unbeaten in the 6 nations so far and have put in some really good performances, however there are still some things that they need to improve upon. Other sporting things that have happened is the Champions League and Europa League were back, the League Cup final was settled on penalties between Man City and Liverpool with City reigning victorious.

RANDOM:

One random favourite and that is a shampoo range from Loreal and it's their Elvive Clay hair range which includes a masque, shampoo, conditioner and dry shampoo. It claims to rebalance the oil in your hair so it you are someone like my who suffers from greasy roots and dry ends of your hair then you should give this a try and it lasts for 72 hours. I have been trying this for about 2-3 weeks and it has worked for me. You put the masque on your roots first for 5 minutes which absorbs all the oil then you wash it out and use the shampoo and conditioner.

That's it for this month's favourites cannot wait to see what I discover or rediscover next month. Hope you all enjoyed this.

Loves and Hugs

Stacey xx

Review- Everybody’s Talking About Jamie Tour

This weekend I went and watched the tour cast of Everybody’s Talking About Jamie at the Wolverhampton Grand Theatre. I’ve not seen this show before but it has been on my list for a long time. I’d only heard one or two songs before so I was going in with no ideas of what it was like and I found it very enjoyable. Background This is based on the true story of 16 year old Jamie New who dreams of being a drag queen as well as wearing a dress to his prom. Throughout the show we see Jamie go through a journey of self discovery which has so many highs and lows. Along the way we meet people who are and aren’t supportive of his dream and how much prejudice he has to contend with. The show first opened on the West End in 2017 and is currently on its second UK tour. Cast The cast of this show were fabulous, unfortunately didn't get to see Ivano Turco play Jamie, Finton Flynn was incredible in those red heels. He portrayed the emotion of playing Jamie perfectly as well showing the young silly ...

Carrie Hope Fletcher Book Signing

Hey Guys On Monday 12th September I attended Carrie Hope Fletcher's book signing for her fiction book On The Other Side at the Glee Club in Birmingham. This is the second time I have met Carrie and once again she was an absolute pleasure to listen too. I attended this event on my own, and I must stay that I think the Glee Club and the Waterstones team planned and hosted the event so well considering there was 350 people that turned up to this event and each one of those people had bought a ticket and a book. We were seated quite early as doors opened at 6 and I was in a seat by 6:30 with the event starting at 7, however there were people who turned up 10 minutes before the event and had to stand up because of all the seats that were taken which gives you an idea of how many people attended this event. Before the signing of the actual books, there was a 40 minute question and answer session with a representative from Waterstones asking Carrie questions about her book, being...

Review: Beauty and the Beast Musical

In March, me and two of my friends went to see Disney’s Beauty and the Beast at the Birmingham Hippodrome. Beauty and the Beast is one of my favourite Disney films and I was excited to see what this interpretation had in stall. The fairy-tale was first adapted into the much-loved Disney animated film in 1991 and became a Broadway production in 1993. The show opens with the familiar voice of Angela Lansbury and the enchanting music that we all recognise and with the help of the beautiful rose projection we are transported into the magic. Director Matt West leaves the story exactly how it is, only adding extra bits of comedy here and there which the audience engage with easily. The cast all suit their characters and portray them to perfection. Grace Swaby- Moore, understudy to Courtney Stapleton, was the embodiment of Belle, she captured the innocence of the character and belted the songs to perfection. Shaq Taylor portrayed the Beast will emotion and ferocity when needed. His voice ...
