Disneyland Paris Day 3 (Feb-March 2017)

Wednesday 1st March

This was the day that we decided that we spend it separately in our couples and that was nice to have but we did still have dinner together so the catch up was nice.

Fantasyland Tea Cups
Like the previous day we had breakfast early and made our way to the park ready for Extra Magic Hours. We got quite a few rides done they were Peter Pan, Pinnochio, Dumbo, Buzz and Orbitron then we had a walk around Main Street then decided to join the ridiculous queue that happens for the opening of Frontierland because everyone wants to get on Big Thunder Mountain which we decided we were going to try and get Fastpasses for. We managed to get them for 1:05 which I think was achievement considering how far back we were in queue to get into the land and then the queue for the fastpasses it was crazy but we got them. We did a bit of shopping and popped back to the hotel to drop the shopping back by this time we had killed enough time for Big Thunder Mountain. Before going on Big Thunder we were luckily enough to get Ratatouille Fastpasses as well for 7:05 which was fine because we weren't really planning on catching any fireworks.

Big Thunder Mountain
I must admit because of the unexpected of Crush's Coaster the previous day I was so nervous for Big Thunder Mountain. We were sat near the front of the train and I loved it best ride in Disneyland Paris I think it's just so good. I love how it throws you right into it from the off when you go down into the tunnel. The effects in the mountains were insane and very loud especially the last one with the dynamite which we didn't see the full effects of until later in the trip because you have to sit about halfway back in the ride to experience it all proper. As soon as I came off it I wanted to go back on straight away which I would have done if the wait for it wasn't so ridiculous. After this we were so hungry so decided to try out Colonel Hathi's Outpost which is in Adventureland and I was really impressed, it's a quick service place. I went with the Pasta and Garlic Bread meal plan and Darren had the Lasagne and Garlic Bread meal plan. I was really impressed with the size of portion we got for the money as they were a fair size which was very impressed about.

Indiana Jones
Once we had refuelled Darren wanted to go on Indian Jones which was round the corner, I didn't fancy it so I waited undercover for him as the wait was only about 10 minutes and I didn't mind waiting as he really wanted to go on it. After this we did 2 more rides which were Phantom Manor and It's a Small World which took us a while to get off because there was a backlog of boats, think it took us longer to get off then we did on the actual ride itself. By this time it was time for our booking at the Agrabah Café where we met back up with Kelly and Alex and we filled each other in on our day so far and so on. Agrabah Café was another place that accepted the Half Board Standard Dining Plan like Billy Bob's the night before. I loved the theming of this restaurant as Aladdin is one of my favourite films but the food wasn't my favourite that doesn't mean it was bad it's that the style of food they do wasn't my favourite but I enjoyed the experience of it. After this because the weather wasn't great me and Darren decided to experience the Railroad around Disney so we boarded in Frontierland and went round to Main Street USA, I then quickly popped into City Hall to get a Birthday Badge for the next day and the lady in there was the nicest person and drew a little Mickey on my badge.

My View of Aerosmith
We decided to go over to the Studios and spend a bit of time in there because we had our Ratatouille Fastpass plus Darren wanted to do Aerosmith and we found that at the end of the ride if you go through the gift shop there's some benches where people can wait for whoever is on the ride so I did that whilst Darren went on the ride which seemed to take forever. Then we went into Studio 1 to try and pick up a teatime treat with our vouchers which we were lucky to get but then whilst eating I realised I'd lost my plastic pocket on the end of my lanyard which had my park ticket and our Fastpasses in. We finished our treat and went back to Aerosmith to look for it where luckily someone had handed it in and I clipped it back onto my lanyard. What I had done was taken it off my lanyard for convenience when entering Studios Park and then instead of putting it back on my lanyard I'd put it in my pocket where it fell out whilst I waited for Darren on Aerosmith, I was very lucky. After all that it was time for the last ride of the day which was Ratatouille, I still don't think this ride is the best thing ever but I enjoyed it nonetheless.

Once we had finished we decided to head to the bus stops to go back to the hotel and this was a big mistake as the queues for the bus was ridiculous and it seemed to take ages for a bus to turn up so we decided to walk which in the end took us about 10 minutes and it was a straightforward walk so we didn't mind. Back in our room we realised we could see the lights from the Star Wars show and we could hear Dreams going and see the fireworks which was such a magical thing to be able to experience just from our hotel. We decided after I showered to go the Red Garter Saloon which is the on site bar at Hotel Cheyenne where we enjoyed some live music, drinks and some nachos. Once again another magical day in the park.

Review- Everybody’s Talking About Jamie Tour

This weekend I went and watched the tour cast of Everybody’s Talking About Jamie at the Wolverhampton Grand Theatre. I’ve not seen this show before but it has been on my list for a long time. I’d only heard one or two songs before so I was going in with no ideas of what it was like and I found it very enjoyable. Background This is based on the true story of 16 year old Jamie New who dreams of being a drag queen as well as wearing a dress to his prom. Throughout the show we see Jamie go through a journey of self discovery which has so many highs and lows. Along the way we meet people who are and aren’t supportive of his dream and how much prejudice he has to contend with. The show first opened on the West End in 2017 and is currently on its second UK tour. Cast The cast of this show were fabulous, unfortunately didn't get to see Ivano Turco play Jamie, Finton Flynn was incredible in those red heels. He portrayed the emotion of playing Jamie perfectly as well showing the young silly ...

Carrie Hope Fletcher Book Signing

Hey Guys On Monday 12th September I attended Carrie Hope Fletcher's book signing for her fiction book On The Other Side at the Glee Club in Birmingham. This is the second time I have met Carrie and once again she was an absolute pleasure to listen too. I attended this event on my own, and I must stay that I think the Glee Club and the Waterstones team planned and hosted the event so well considering there was 350 people that turned up to this event and each one of those people had bought a ticket and a book. We were seated quite early as doors opened at 6 and I was in a seat by 6:30 with the event starting at 7, however there were people who turned up 10 minutes before the event and had to stand up because of all the seats that were taken which gives you an idea of how many people attended this event. Before the signing of the actual books, there was a 40 minute question and answer session with a representative from Waterstones asking Carrie questions about her book, being...

Review: Beauty and the Beast Musical

In March, me and two of my friends went to see Disney’s Beauty and the Beast at the Birmingham Hippodrome. Beauty and the Beast is one of my favourite Disney films and I was excited to see what this interpretation had in stall. The fairy-tale was first adapted into the much-loved Disney animated film in 1991 and became a Broadway production in 1993. The show opens with the familiar voice of Angela Lansbury and the enchanting music that we all recognise and with the help of the beautiful rose projection we are transported into the magic. Director Matt West leaves the story exactly how it is, only adding extra bits of comedy here and there which the audience engage with easily. The cast all suit their characters and portray them to perfection. Grace Swaby- Moore, understudy to Courtney Stapleton, was the embodiment of Belle, she captured the innocence of the character and belted the songs to perfection. Shaq Taylor portrayed the Beast will emotion and ferocity when needed. His voice ...
