Black Panther Thoughts

Last week, finally Black Panther was released into the world and I couldn't have been more excited which says a lot because I am not the biggest Marvel fan. However, as soon as I saw the trailer for this I was instantly like I have to see this which I finally did on Saturday. So here are some non-spoiler thoughts I has during the film.

  • Wakanda- This place looks beautiful from the moment we see it, I was completely in awe of it. It's literally a different world, the imagery of it is incredible, I want to visit if it was possible.

  • Rituals- The rituals in this film are fascinating and well executed by the cast. The thought that was put into it and the traditions that are held up from generation to generation is amazing. I couldn't do them that's for sure.

  • Tribe- The tribes in this film are one of my favourite things in this film. There's a part at the beginning which really highlights the tribe element and it is just incredible to see all these people live together but have differences.

  • Technology- The technology in this film is insane, to think we could one day be at this level of tech is crazy and would benefit a lot of people. What they have done in this film is so imaginative and looked amazing on screen.

  • Kilmonger- First things first, Michael B Jordan as Erik in this film is HOT I mean seriously. His character Erik really throws a lot of spanners in the works, some actions I didn't see coming what so ever and really twisted the story which I thought was really good.

  • Women- The women in this are amazingly badass, Shuri is a sassy little genius I want her as my friend, she is amazing. Nakia has the biggest heart and will fight for what she loves which is amazing. Okoye is not too be messed with at all, in a fight you want her on your side, she's incredibly loyal and I want her as my bodyguard.

  • T'Challa- I loved seeing him grow throughout this film and see him learn some very valuable life lessons that I think we all learn and how he changed because of this. He was a great lead character as he wasn't perfect even though he is the Black Panther but it shows even superheroes are flawed and that is ok.

  • Messages- I think everyone should see this film because I think the themes it highlights really apply to the world now. Such as yes something might be right but how the individual puts that across could make it wrong meaning the idea is now wrong because of this. Also, we need to band together and not fall apart. There are so many little messages that I think we need to be aware of.

  • Post credit scenes- There are two post credit scenes just to let you know because I had no idea. However, one scene I lost my shit but that's all I can say without spoiling.

I know this is a bit of an odd post but I thought I'd change up my style of review and put some random thoughts I had about the film. I adored this film so much, I urge everyone to see it. Nonetheless I hope you enjoyed this.

Until next time

Review- Everybody’s Talking About Jamie Tour

This weekend I went and watched the tour cast of Everybody’s Talking About Jamie at the Wolverhampton Grand Theatre. I’ve not seen this show before but it has been on my list for a long time. I’d only heard one or two songs before so I was going in with no ideas of what it was like and I found it very enjoyable. Background This is based on the true story of 16 year old Jamie New who dreams of being a drag queen as well as wearing a dress to his prom. Throughout the show we see Jamie go through a journey of self discovery which has so many highs and lows. Along the way we meet people who are and aren’t supportive of his dream and how much prejudice he has to contend with. The show first opened on the West End in 2017 and is currently on its second UK tour. Cast The cast of this show were fabulous, unfortunately didn't get to see Ivano Turco play Jamie, Finton Flynn was incredible in those red heels. He portrayed the emotion of playing Jamie perfectly as well showing the young silly ...

Carrie Hope Fletcher Book Signing

Hey Guys On Monday 12th September I attended Carrie Hope Fletcher's book signing for her fiction book On The Other Side at the Glee Club in Birmingham. This is the second time I have met Carrie and once again she was an absolute pleasure to listen too. I attended this event on my own, and I must stay that I think the Glee Club and the Waterstones team planned and hosted the event so well considering there was 350 people that turned up to this event and each one of those people had bought a ticket and a book. We were seated quite early as doors opened at 6 and I was in a seat by 6:30 with the event starting at 7, however there were people who turned up 10 minutes before the event and had to stand up because of all the seats that were taken which gives you an idea of how many people attended this event. Before the signing of the actual books, there was a 40 minute question and answer session with a representative from Waterstones asking Carrie questions about her book, being...

Review: Beauty and the Beast Musical

In March, me and two of my friends went to see Disney’s Beauty and the Beast at the Birmingham Hippodrome. Beauty and the Beast is one of my favourite Disney films and I was excited to see what this interpretation had in stall. The fairy-tale was first adapted into the much-loved Disney animated film in 1991 and became a Broadway production in 1993. The show opens with the familiar voice of Angela Lansbury and the enchanting music that we all recognise and with the help of the beautiful rose projection we are transported into the magic. Director Matt West leaves the story exactly how it is, only adding extra bits of comedy here and there which the audience engage with easily. The cast all suit their characters and portray them to perfection. Grace Swaby- Moore, understudy to Courtney Stapleton, was the embodiment of Belle, she captured the innocence of the character and belted the songs to perfection. Shaq Taylor portrayed the Beast will emotion and ferocity when needed. His voice ...
