Disney x TOMS

A couple of months ago it was announced that the shoe brand TOMS were releasing three capsule Disney collections, Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty and Snow White. This all started my love affair with TOMS and I started doing some research about them and I was pleasantly surprised and glad about their morals and ideas. They have their One for One campaign which is this idea that for every TOMS product bought a person in another country is helped in some way which could be a pair of shoes, a sight test, food, water, medicine. It’s a great way to help others and get a great pair of shoes. In addition to this they are also ethically friendly as well as vegan making them easy to cater for everyone. I bought my first pair of the classics in black for work and haven’t looked back they are so comfortable and true to size, so in was in no doubt that I was going to buy Disney ones.

So, onto the Disney collaboration and at midnight Tuesday 19th June the Cinderella collection launched and it’s beautiful. Cinderella is my thing so I was never missing out on this collaboration. I also love the little explanation on the TOMS website about their Disney collaboration which I am going to share because it is amazing.

A group of young women worked behind the scenes on Walt Disney’s films, adding the detail to these timeless stories. Inspired by these female artists, TOMS went into the Walt Disney Archives and created a unique collection featuring original character sketches from classic Disney films. Our Disney Cinderella collection is the first capsule in the Disney x TOMS collaboration. Chase your dreams in style and be home before the clock strikes midnight in printed Classic Alpargatas or unique eyewear. As always, with every product you purchase, TOMS will help someone in need. One for One®
I love that they are highlighting the hardworking women of Disney, they don’t get enough credit in my opinion.

Onto the shoes, I decided I was going to get two pairs mainly because I couldn’t choose between the two designs. I went for the Blue Cinderella Classics and Taupe Gus and Jaq classics, I stayed up until 12:15 to make sure I got a pair, just in case they sold which they haven’t thankfully but I had to be on the safe side. Delivery is also free which is a bonus and very quick as I received the shoes on Thursday (21st). Price wise I think the classics are a very good price considering my black work ones’ cost £36 and then both Cinderella pairs cost £48 which isn’t a huge difference compared to other brands selling Disney merchandise.
They came in a big delivery box which opened and two lots of shoe boxes were inside and the boxes themselves were gorgeous baby blue with the gold Disney x TOMS logo. I like how simple these boxes were there was no faff, perfect size just for the shoes and that’s it. Inside the box they were wrapped in white tissue paper with blue stars are which is simple but very pretty. Then there are the shoes themselves, they are gorgeous. The Cinderella blue has all different sketches of Cinderella on from various parts of the film in different dresses, the insoles in the shoe are very thick and have Gus in the left shoe and Jaq in the right shoe which is a lovely detail to have and is a running theme in all the shoes. The taupe Gus and Jaq ones are a lovely colour and have sketches of the two mice helping Cinderella with her dress so you have needle and thread as well they are cute and have Gus and Jaq on the insole of each shoe. I have worn both pairs and can honestly say it’s like a hug for the feet, I normally suffer when it comes to new shoes but this is totally different they haven’t cause me any problems. I cannot recommend these enough.

I will be buying from the other two collections as well, I have my eye on a pair from each from pre-released pictures I have seen. The Sleeping Beauty collection is coming in July and Snow White in August, I’m already excited for them. I will leave links for TOMS and all the classics I have spoken about, check them out, I love them. Check out my Disney Instagram where I did an unboxing and for all things Disney.

Review- Everybody’s Talking About Jamie Tour

This weekend I went and watched the tour cast of Everybody’s Talking About Jamie at the Wolverhampton Grand Theatre. I’ve not seen this show before but it has been on my list for a long time. I’d only heard one or two songs before so I was going in with no ideas of what it was like and I found it very enjoyable. Background This is based on the true story of 16 year old Jamie New who dreams of being a drag queen as well as wearing a dress to his prom. Throughout the show we see Jamie go through a journey of self discovery which has so many highs and lows. Along the way we meet people who are and aren’t supportive of his dream and how much prejudice he has to contend with. The show first opened on the West End in 2017 and is currently on its second UK tour. Cast The cast of this show were fabulous, unfortunately didn't get to see Ivano Turco play Jamie, Finton Flynn was incredible in those red heels. He portrayed the emotion of playing Jamie perfectly as well showing the young silly ...

Carrie Hope Fletcher Book Signing

Hey Guys On Monday 12th September I attended Carrie Hope Fletcher's book signing for her fiction book On The Other Side at the Glee Club in Birmingham. This is the second time I have met Carrie and once again she was an absolute pleasure to listen too. I attended this event on my own, and I must stay that I think the Glee Club and the Waterstones team planned and hosted the event so well considering there was 350 people that turned up to this event and each one of those people had bought a ticket and a book. We were seated quite early as doors opened at 6 and I was in a seat by 6:30 with the event starting at 7, however there were people who turned up 10 minutes before the event and had to stand up because of all the seats that were taken which gives you an idea of how many people attended this event. Before the signing of the actual books, there was a 40 minute question and answer session with a representative from Waterstones asking Carrie questions about her book, being...

Review: Beauty and the Beast Musical

In March, me and two of my friends went to see Disney’s Beauty and the Beast at the Birmingham Hippodrome. Beauty and the Beast is one of my favourite Disney films and I was excited to see what this interpretation had in stall. The fairy-tale was first adapted into the much-loved Disney animated film in 1991 and became a Broadway production in 1993. The show opens with the familiar voice of Angela Lansbury and the enchanting music that we all recognise and with the help of the beautiful rose projection we are transported into the magic. Director Matt West leaves the story exactly how it is, only adding extra bits of comedy here and there which the audience engage with easily. The cast all suit their characters and portray them to perfection. Grace Swaby- Moore, understudy to Courtney Stapleton, was the embodiment of Belle, she captured the innocence of the character and belted the songs to perfection. Shaq Taylor portrayed the Beast will emotion and ferocity when needed. His voice ...
