Full Aladdin Trailer Reaction

With 2 and a half months left until release we finally have the final full Live Action Aladdin trailer. Aladdin is my favourite animated Disney film, I am so excited to have another version to enjoy now.

We have Aladdin escaping the guards with his tricks and stunts to get away, we have a proper look at Abu who is so cute and still reminds me of Jack from Pirates of the Caribbean. Agrabah looks amazing as a little market town in the desert, it looks so pretty. Then we have Aladdin and Jasmine seeing each other for the first time which is such a sweet moment even in the animation and musical. We then properly meet Jafar who is explaining to Aladdin about retrieving the lamp from the Cave of Wonders and how he can make him rich enough to impress a princess. The Cave of Wonders look incredible it has this eery feel to it because it’s very dark but then colourful with the hints of gold. Obviously Aladdin grabs the lamp and we then get Genie, who it seems like is going to bring a lot of humour to the film from the word go. Finally we get a snippet of some music with a tiny bit of Friend Like Me which I’m not 100% sure about until I see it but it looks like it will be a spectacle with a lot of colour and Carpet and Abu playing instruments. Aladdin finally makes his wish to become a Prince and we get a glimpse of Genie’s magic which looks fun. We FINALLY get a look at Prince Ali and he looks wonderful, his outfit looks like a middle ground between the animated film and the musical. The song Prince Ali looks like it is going to be so colourful and fun, it’s probably my favourite song in the original, it looks really promising. I love Genie giving Aladdin a little pep talk to talk to Jasmine which seems like a lovely added extra. Then we get the BIG one, A Whole New World, the lead up with Aladdin and Jasmine talking leading him to ask her those four magic words “Do you trust me?” Always gives me goosebumps, so cute. Finally we hear them sing, it sounds so good I cannot wait to experience it in it’s full glory. We are then shown a flurry of small clips, we have Genie riding Ostriches which I’m guessing is from Prince Ali maybe, another shows Aladdin getting chucked off a cliff attached to a chair which I think will be when Jafar orders the guards to get rid Prince Ali. One that really really struck me was Aladdin and Jasmine dancing which makes me excited to watch because if the musical is anything to go by with the dancing then we are in for a treat. There is so much more we haven’t seen yet and will have to wait until the film but we are in for a treat, the colours, the music, the complete extravagance of it all looks incredible. Let’s talk about the costumes for a second they look absolutely stunning again the colour that goes into them especially Jasmine’s in which we see four different outfits full of pinks, greens and white which look stunning. Jafar with the black and red, Genie’s human form outfits full of blue and then Aladdin as a commoner and then as Prince Ali works so well. Disney do colour within in films so well, Live Action Cinderella is a good example of this. I am really excited for this film I think it’s going to link the animation and the musical together so we have a full circle.

Side note a new poster also dropped as well, it looks stunning and shows everything that is key to this film. Once again Disney use colours to showcase everything, blues for everything associated with the Genie and the magic in the film. Gold for Jasmine, Agrabah, the Sultan and black and red with Jafar to show the evil.

Right that’s it no more Aladdin ramblings now until the film, which comes out 24th May about 2 and a half months away. Now waiting on the merchandise which hopefully will be out soon and then the soundtrack will be available before the film if they do what they did with Beauty and the Beast. As you can guess I am SO excited for this film, I just want to enjoy it and be swept away by it.

Review- Everybody’s Talking About Jamie Tour

This weekend I went and watched the tour cast of Everybody’s Talking About Jamie at the Wolverhampton Grand Theatre. I’ve not seen this show before but it has been on my list for a long time. I’d only heard one or two songs before so I was going in with no ideas of what it was like and I found it very enjoyable. Background This is based on the true story of 16 year old Jamie New who dreams of being a drag queen as well as wearing a dress to his prom. Throughout the show we see Jamie go through a journey of self discovery which has so many highs and lows. Along the way we meet people who are and aren’t supportive of his dream and how much prejudice he has to contend with. The show first opened on the West End in 2017 and is currently on its second UK tour. Cast The cast of this show were fabulous, unfortunately didn't get to see Ivano Turco play Jamie, Finton Flynn was incredible in those red heels. He portrayed the emotion of playing Jamie perfectly as well showing the young silly ...

Carrie Hope Fletcher Book Signing

Hey Guys On Monday 12th September I attended Carrie Hope Fletcher's book signing for her fiction book On The Other Side at the Glee Club in Birmingham. This is the second time I have met Carrie and once again she was an absolute pleasure to listen too. I attended this event on my own, and I must stay that I think the Glee Club and the Waterstones team planned and hosted the event so well considering there was 350 people that turned up to this event and each one of those people had bought a ticket and a book. We were seated quite early as doors opened at 6 and I was in a seat by 6:30 with the event starting at 7, however there were people who turned up 10 minutes before the event and had to stand up because of all the seats that were taken which gives you an idea of how many people attended this event. Before the signing of the actual books, there was a 40 minute question and answer session with a representative from Waterstones asking Carrie questions about her book, being...

Review: Beauty and the Beast Musical

In March, me and two of my friends went to see Disney’s Beauty and the Beast at the Birmingham Hippodrome. Beauty and the Beast is one of my favourite Disney films and I was excited to see what this interpretation had in stall. The fairy-tale was first adapted into the much-loved Disney animated film in 1991 and became a Broadway production in 1993. The show opens with the familiar voice of Angela Lansbury and the enchanting music that we all recognise and with the help of the beautiful rose projection we are transported into the magic. Director Matt West leaves the story exactly how it is, only adding extra bits of comedy here and there which the audience engage with easily. The cast all suit their characters and portray them to perfection. Grace Swaby- Moore, understudy to Courtney Stapleton, was the embodiment of Belle, she captured the innocence of the character and belted the songs to perfection. Shaq Taylor portrayed the Beast will emotion and ferocity when needed. His voice ...
