My Favourite Disney Instrumentals

With all these new versions of Disney films, it means they come with new soundtracks and because of this I've found myself loving and appreciating some of the instrumental pieces of music on that appears in Disney films, I have a list of ones that I'm loving, so thought I'd share. These are in no particular order.

1. Remember- Hans Zimmer (The Lion King)

I only really discovered that I loved this piece of music because of the trailers for the new Live Action Lion King where they use this piece of music and it hit me with how emotional it makes me. This piece of music happens after Scar has been killed and the rain washes out the flames and everyone is checking on each other. Simba then climbs Pride Rock to take his rightful place, it's that little piece that actually gets me. It then takes us through to the end of the film when it comes full circle. It's an amazing piece of music and really powerful and you can link it as soon as you hear it to that part of the film.

2. Transformations- Alan Menken (Beauty and the Beast)

This is another iconic pieces of music again it wasn't until the Live Action Beauty and the Beast that I fell in love more with this music. Obviously, it's at the end when the Beast, the castle and all the servants become how they once were. It's just amazing and really fits with the story and it mixes all the music from earlier in the film as well, it's just gorgeous.

3. Harvest Dance- Alan Menken (Live Action Aladdin)

This was a recent addition in the new Live Action Aladdin, I love this piece of music it's really lovely to listen to and fits the film so well. Also this is one of my favourites parts in the film and it reminds me so much, it makes me really happy. Such a great addition to an amazing film.

4. Main Title- Alan Menken (The Little Mermaid)

This is so iconic, it's the opening music from The Little Mermaid. It's basically an instrumental version of Part of Your World which is incredible. I just love it because as soon as it starts you know what film it is. Alan Menken is just an absolute genius with these soundtracks, you can bet the new Little Mermaid soundtrack will be incredible, like Aladdin  and Beauty and the Beast with how those songs were still paying homage to the originals but were very different and suited these versions of the films.

5. Main Title: Prologue- Alan Menken (Beauty and the Beast)

This is incredible piece of piano music, it literally gives me chills. I remember when the teaser trailer came out for the Live Action Beauty and the Beast and these opening notes played I nearly cried because it is just so iconic and so incredible. I love how intense it gets throughout because it's telling the story of how the Prince became the Beast but throughout it still plays them same notes, I don't have enough words to describe how much I love this piece of music. It also echos the Transmformation music that's later in the film I think that's why I love the two because they link together.

6. La Valse de L'Amour- Patrick Doyle (Live Action Cinderella)

I think we all know how much I adore this film, it's my all time favourite Disney film/ any film to be quite honest. I love this piece of music it's very classic and soothing, it gives me Once Upon a Time vibes from Sleeping Beauty, it's gorgeous. It's the piece of music Ella and Kit dance to at the ball and the dance to go with it, is just beautiful and flows along to the music. I love this music and I love this film, end of.

That is my favourite instrumental pieces of music, controversially a lot of Live Action but I'm one that really does like and enjoy Live Action films. I enjoyed sharing this list that's a little bit different from what's your favourite Disney songs. Go and listen to these pieces of music or even listen to the soundtracks for these films because they are pretty fab. What's your favourite Disney instrumentals ?

Until next time,

Stacey x

Review- Everybody’s Talking About Jamie Tour

This weekend I went and watched the tour cast of Everybody’s Talking About Jamie at the Wolverhampton Grand Theatre. I’ve not seen this show before but it has been on my list for a long time. I’d only heard one or two songs before so I was going in with no ideas of what it was like and I found it very enjoyable. Background This is based on the true story of 16 year old Jamie New who dreams of being a drag queen as well as wearing a dress to his prom. Throughout the show we see Jamie go through a journey of self discovery which has so many highs and lows. Along the way we meet people who are and aren’t supportive of his dream and how much prejudice he has to contend with. The show first opened on the West End in 2017 and is currently on its second UK tour. Cast The cast of this show were fabulous, unfortunately didn't get to see Ivano Turco play Jamie, Finton Flynn was incredible in those red heels. He portrayed the emotion of playing Jamie perfectly as well showing the young silly ...

Carrie Hope Fletcher Book Signing

Hey Guys On Monday 12th September I attended Carrie Hope Fletcher's book signing for her fiction book On The Other Side at the Glee Club in Birmingham. This is the second time I have met Carrie and once again she was an absolute pleasure to listen too. I attended this event on my own, and I must stay that I think the Glee Club and the Waterstones team planned and hosted the event so well considering there was 350 people that turned up to this event and each one of those people had bought a ticket and a book. We were seated quite early as doors opened at 6 and I was in a seat by 6:30 with the event starting at 7, however there were people who turned up 10 minutes before the event and had to stand up because of all the seats that were taken which gives you an idea of how many people attended this event. Before the signing of the actual books, there was a 40 minute question and answer session with a representative from Waterstones asking Carrie questions about her book, being...

Review: Beauty and the Beast Musical

In March, me and two of my friends went to see Disney’s Beauty and the Beast at the Birmingham Hippodrome. Beauty and the Beast is one of my favourite Disney films and I was excited to see what this interpretation had in stall. The fairy-tale was first adapted into the much-loved Disney animated film in 1991 and became a Broadway production in 1993. The show opens with the familiar voice of Angela Lansbury and the enchanting music that we all recognise and with the help of the beautiful rose projection we are transported into the magic. Director Matt West leaves the story exactly how it is, only adding extra bits of comedy here and there which the audience engage with easily. The cast all suit their characters and portray them to perfection. Grace Swaby- Moore, understudy to Courtney Stapleton, was the embodiment of Belle, she captured the innocence of the character and belted the songs to perfection. Shaq Taylor portrayed the Beast will emotion and ferocity when needed. His voice ...
