26th Birthday Weekend

This past weekend was my birthday weekend and I did a variety of different things across the few days that I thought I'd share. Also I cannot believe that it is now March, this year is starting to fly.

Saturday 29th February

To kick off this busy couple of days me, Darren and our friends James and Amy went to Resorts World in Birmingham to have dinner and do an Escape Room. We went for dinner at TGI Fridays, I love the food here but the service can be very slow. We had to wait about half an hour for a table so in that time we had a drink, Purple Rain is my favourite. We eventually got seated and I ordered my usual of Chicken Fingers and the server asked if it was a special ocassion and we are terrible liars so in the end told him it was my birthday. He asked if he could sing for me and that and I said no, being sang Happy Birthday is my worst nightmare. Once all the orders were taken we waited another half an hour for the food to come which wasn't great because it now meant we had to rush. The server before this bought me over a balloon hat to celebrate my birthday, also I hate balloons, so that was really awkward. The food was as good as ever though, the fries are my favourite thing.

Once we rushed our food we went back up the escalators to the new Escape Hunt that has just opened in Resorts World. This was my fourth Escape Room with Escape Hunt, I love their Escape Rooms because it's very relaxed, they don't penalise you for using clues, the Games Masters are great and the room themes are so good. We've done their Blackbeard room, Our Finest Hour and Fourth Samari. This time is was their brand new Aladdin themed room that only opened recently. The premise was very Aladdin-esque the Sorceror wants a lamp from the Cave of Wonders that opens once every 100 years for an hour, go in and retrieve the lamp for him. I personally found ths room quite diffcult, the puzzles were more long winded as opposed to lots of little puzzles. We made it out in 45 minutes, which is amazing because when we had the 30 minute warning and it didn't feel like we were going to do it. The funniest thing was that we had the same Games Master, Courtney, for this room that we had back in September when we did Our Finest Hours. He remembered us and we remebered him.. We then went to the pub for a couple of hours when we got back to Darren's and just caught up and chatted for the rest of the night.

Sunday 1st March

James and Amy left early Sunday morning so me and Darren went for Wetherspoons breakfast. We love their American breakfast and look forward to having this before we fly to Orlando in April, which is now officially next month. After a pretty chill day, watching the football and what not, me and Darren went to Miller and Carter for an early birthday meal. I love the steak at Miller and Carter and it's the perfect place for an occassion meal. We had cheesy garlic bread to share as a starter which was amazing. For main I had an 8oz sirloin steak, with the usual of fries, onion loaf, beef tomato and parsley butter. I picked the mushroom and garlic sauce to go with it and I don't have a wedge because I don't like lettuce so don't want to waste it if I'm not going to eat it. It was so good, we both struggled to finish it because there was so much but I really enjoyed it, the best steak that there is.

Monday 2nd March

It's my birthday ! To celebrate me and my Mum went and did afternoon tea at Huffkins in Stratford upon Avon. This is only the second time I have done afternoon tea, the other was at Burberry a few years ago in London. There was loose leaf tea which my Mum said was really nice, not too many leaves ended up in the cup. I don't drink tea so I had a glass of water instead. There were three different selections of sandwiches which were tuna and cucumber, chicken and bacon and egg and watercress. I loved the tuna and cucumber and Mum really enjoyed the egg and watercress but unfortunately we didn't like the chicken and bacon but that's ok. Next plate up had two plain scones with little pots of jam and cream, which also had blueberries on. I have my scone completely plain because I don't like jam and cream but the scone was still warm and was quite big as well, delicious. We took the other scone home because my Mum doesn't like scones. Next were the cakes, there was a massive bakewell tart, which we also took home along with the chocolate cupcake. There was also a lemon drizzle cake which Mum had a really enjoyed and I had a massive chocolate eclair which is one of my favourites. It was huge and really yummy, I'd highly recommend this afternoon tea it's great value for money at £35.95 and you can take home what you don't eat.

I had such an amazing couple of days sharing it with everyone. I love birthdays and celebrating the person who's birthday it is. It's so special making the memories with everyone.

I really hope you enjoyed this post, until next time,

Stacey x

Review- Everybody’s Talking About Jamie Tour

This weekend I went and watched the tour cast of Everybody’s Talking About Jamie at the Wolverhampton Grand Theatre. I’ve not seen this show before but it has been on my list for a long time. I’d only heard one or two songs before so I was going in with no ideas of what it was like and I found it very enjoyable. Background This is based on the true story of 16 year old Jamie New who dreams of being a drag queen as well as wearing a dress to his prom. Throughout the show we see Jamie go through a journey of self discovery which has so many highs and lows. Along the way we meet people who are and aren’t supportive of his dream and how much prejudice he has to contend with. The show first opened on the West End in 2017 and is currently on its second UK tour. Cast The cast of this show were fabulous, unfortunately didn't get to see Ivano Turco play Jamie, Finton Flynn was incredible in those red heels. He portrayed the emotion of playing Jamie perfectly as well showing the young silly ...

Carrie Hope Fletcher Book Signing

Hey Guys On Monday 12th September I attended Carrie Hope Fletcher's book signing for her fiction book On The Other Side at the Glee Club in Birmingham. This is the second time I have met Carrie and once again she was an absolute pleasure to listen too. I attended this event on my own, and I must stay that I think the Glee Club and the Waterstones team planned and hosted the event so well considering there was 350 people that turned up to this event and each one of those people had bought a ticket and a book. We were seated quite early as doors opened at 6 and I was in a seat by 6:30 with the event starting at 7, however there were people who turned up 10 minutes before the event and had to stand up because of all the seats that were taken which gives you an idea of how many people attended this event. Before the signing of the actual books, there was a 40 minute question and answer session with a representative from Waterstones asking Carrie questions about her book, being...

Review: Beauty and the Beast Musical

In March, me and two of my friends went to see Disney’s Beauty and the Beast at the Birmingham Hippodrome. Beauty and the Beast is one of my favourite Disney films and I was excited to see what this interpretation had in stall. The fairy-tale was first adapted into the much-loved Disney animated film in 1991 and became a Broadway production in 1993. The show opens with the familiar voice of Angela Lansbury and the enchanting music that we all recognise and with the help of the beautiful rose projection we are transported into the magic. Director Matt West leaves the story exactly how it is, only adding extra bits of comedy here and there which the audience engage with easily. The cast all suit their characters and portray them to perfection. Grace Swaby- Moore, understudy to Courtney Stapleton, was the embodiment of Belle, she captured the innocence of the character and belted the songs to perfection. Shaq Taylor portrayed the Beast will emotion and ferocity when needed. His voice ...
