I’m Back !

I know, I know, I have left my little space of the internet unloved and untouched for about 9 months now and I’m not going to apologise because honestly, a lot has happened and I haven’t felt inspired to talk about anything. However, I’m going to try and be a bit more present here and just talk about the things I want to talk about. So I thought I would catch you up on what’s been happening whilst I’ve been away.

Back in September me and my fiancé moved in together and are renting our first ever house. It’s a 2 bedroom terraced house in a borough of Birmingham and we absolutely love it. We’ve extended our lease on it for a further 12 months as well lately. We’ve got it to exactly how we want it and just have the garden left to sort out now. The location is great, we live in a town but we haven’t had chance to explore because of the pandemic. We are really close to the motorway which is helpful for our jobs and going to visit family and friends, when we can. I miss my parents but moving out felt like the natural next step.

Speaking of job, I moved pharmacies back in November because the commute to my old location from the house was too far and costing too much in petrol, so after 3 years I changed. I now work for the same company but in Walsall which is only half an hour away without traffic. Honestly, changing was so hard but I think I’m getting to grips with it and will be ok in the long run. I’ve just started doing full hours, when I changed I was doing 32 hours a week and now I’m up to 41 hours.

Christmas came and went and that was nice spending with family as we were allowed to do, we played some games and got some lovely gifts. Then February came around and I got engaged on the 13th, which was completely amazing and totally unexpected. It was at home obviously and very simple with a rose and a card with some lovely words. The response from our family and friends was out of this world and we got some lovely cards and thoughtful gifts. I have so many ideas and a Pinterest board already made.

March was my lockdown birthday which I spent watching Disney YouTube videos and playing games. Then I got a new car, I used to have a claret KA but it failed it’s MOT in spectacular fashion and was deemed unsafe to drive as the underneath had completely rusted. So, I got a blue Mini Cooper second hand off my fiancé’s cousin who didn’t need it anymore. I love my Mini, I've always wanted one and learnt to drive in one. Also I am completely vaccinated and it's just so nice that everything is slowly opening up again.

A few weeks ago we went away to a lodge in Brean with my parents for a couple of days and it was just the break we needed. We went into Burnham and had chips and ice cream one day. Another day, we went down to Berrow beach and just walked along the sand and dipped our toes in the sea which was such a great feeling.  We walked down to Brean theme park and played mini golf and won a free round on the lucky last hole, it was hot that day as well we were really lucky with the weather all week really. We also went to Weston for the day which was so lovely, we found a shop that's like a geek store and it was glorious, they had all the old school Pokemon cards in there. The shiny, more rare ones were in a binder for £2 each and then they had a box which has a massive selection of normal cards for 10p each and it was amazing going through looking at all these cards. We ended up with a plushy Squirtle and 5 Pokemon cards. We had the nicest day just wondering around having a look and playing in the amusements. The lodge was really lovely, it was a John Fowler site, it had so much space and most importantly a hot tub which was glorious.
We are making some plans and have some things scheduled in so hopefully they all happen and we can go out into the world again.

We have some really exciting things planned for the next few months, which will hopefully go ahead. Again, I'm so glad we're slowly getting back to some kind of normal and I cannot wait to enjoy the things I used to do. Most importantly I'm looking forward to when we can rebook going to Florida.

Review- Everybody’s Talking About Jamie Tour

This weekend I went and watched the tour cast of Everybody’s Talking About Jamie at the Wolverhampton Grand Theatre. I’ve not seen this show before but it has been on my list for a long time. I’d only heard one or two songs before so I was going in with no ideas of what it was like and I found it very enjoyable. Background This is based on the true story of 16 year old Jamie New who dreams of being a drag queen as well as wearing a dress to his prom. Throughout the show we see Jamie go through a journey of self discovery which has so many highs and lows. Along the way we meet people who are and aren’t supportive of his dream and how much prejudice he has to contend with. The show first opened on the West End in 2017 and is currently on its second UK tour. Cast The cast of this show were fabulous, unfortunately didn't get to see Ivano Turco play Jamie, Finton Flynn was incredible in those red heels. He portrayed the emotion of playing Jamie perfectly as well showing the young silly ...

Carrie Hope Fletcher Book Signing

Hey Guys On Monday 12th September I attended Carrie Hope Fletcher's book signing for her fiction book On The Other Side at the Glee Club in Birmingham. This is the second time I have met Carrie and once again she was an absolute pleasure to listen too. I attended this event on my own, and I must stay that I think the Glee Club and the Waterstones team planned and hosted the event so well considering there was 350 people that turned up to this event and each one of those people had bought a ticket and a book. We were seated quite early as doors opened at 6 and I was in a seat by 6:30 with the event starting at 7, however there were people who turned up 10 minutes before the event and had to stand up because of all the seats that were taken which gives you an idea of how many people attended this event. Before the signing of the actual books, there was a 40 minute question and answer session with a representative from Waterstones asking Carrie questions about her book, being...

Review: Beauty and the Beast Musical

In March, me and two of my friends went to see Disney’s Beauty and the Beast at the Birmingham Hippodrome. Beauty and the Beast is one of my favourite Disney films and I was excited to see what this interpretation had in stall. The fairy-tale was first adapted into the much-loved Disney animated film in 1991 and became a Broadway production in 1993. The show opens with the familiar voice of Angela Lansbury and the enchanting music that we all recognise and with the help of the beautiful rose projection we are transported into the magic. Director Matt West leaves the story exactly how it is, only adding extra bits of comedy here and there which the audience engage with easily. The cast all suit their characters and portray them to perfection. Grace Swaby- Moore, understudy to Courtney Stapleton, was the embodiment of Belle, she captured the innocence of the character and belted the songs to perfection. Shaq Taylor portrayed the Beast will emotion and ferocity when needed. His voice ...
